Since 1960's a lot of “extensions” have made by Iranian information specialists and librarians based on LCC and DDC in those classes related to culture of Iran. Some of them are: Iranian languages and literatures, Islam, Arabic literatures, History and Geography of Iran, Iranian arts and so on. This article that has prepared for the first academic library and information sciences encyclopedia, introduces and analyses these extensions.

Publications in a wide variety has prompted emergence and formulation of differing Cataloging rules. Awareness of the various characteristics of book publishing is of great significant to formulating these rules and their applications. To measure actually the importance of such different characteristics one way is to examine frequency and occurrences of these characteristics in National Bibliographic Records. Through such a survey one can make decisions on the basis of real data and make more rational.

The number and variety of bibliographic data elements is a paramount, historical and controversial issue in library and bibliography in the national and international levels. It's necessary, along with the theoretical discussions, to conduct an all- embracing research on how bibliographic data should represent and actually to rely on its results. The findings of such a research may put forward some more well- reasoned and realistic answer to the relative issues. not all data elements have equal presence in the record. Some of them appear more and some other less. One of the significant criteria in the evaluation and efficiency of bibliographic data elements is their presence in the actual National Bibliographic Records.
